About On Paws

On Paws started with three animals and a lot of love.

Holly was a silky Maltese, soft and unhurried, always a few steps behind on a walk and then suddenly right beside you again, as if she had never been anywhere else. Daisy was a Jack Russell cross Foxy, full of personality, and she had a pink mobile phone toy she liked to carry on her walks. People would stop and stare as she came towards them. 'Can't go out without her mobile, can she?' they would say. 'Does she have international dialling?' Daisy made strangers smile without trying.

Then there was Trevor. A gorgeous moggie who completed the trio. Holly, Daisy and Trevor were the three musketeers, each one very different, all completely devoted to each other and to their person, me.

Daisy left in 2016. Holly left in 2020. They were not pets. They were family, and they are missed every day.

The Hollydaz is named for both of them. Holly and Daisy. It felt like the only right thing to do.

Holly's paw print is on every bag. It goes out into the world with every order, into cafes and along beaches and through weekend markets, carried by people who love their dogs the way we loved ours. She is still going everywhere, every single day. Daisy's design is coming on the next version of the bag.

The bag grew out of years of carrying small dogs everywhere, knowing that the right carrier makes all the difference between leaving your dog at home and taking them with you. It needed to look good. It needed a firm base so the dog could sit properly. It needed to fold away completely when empty so you could slip it in your handbag without thinking about it. Most carriers do one of those things. The Hollydaz does all three.

On Paws is based in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Every bag is packed and posted personally. The little dog in the photo at the top of the page is Lochie, a beautiful bitsa of schnauzer, poodle and terrier, and the bag's most regular passenger.

If you have a small dog who deserves to come everywhere, this bag was made for them. It was made with Holly and Daisy in mind.
